DBS - THE WORD IS WORTH IT!

Yes, I'm talking about the Word of God! :) The very book we carry to church weekly; is the book that can impact us daily.

Like a compass, the Bible always points us in the right direction.

Last Saturday; 24th April 2010, we had the "fantastic four" to speak forth the "TEN EFFECTS OF THE WORD OF GOD". Thanks to Siu Fai, Joanna, Daryll & Chia Wen; who, I believe, took the time to analyze the notes & taught us the very long lesson!!

The ten effects of the Word of God are stated below...

1)It produces faith
2)It produces new birth
3)It is nourishment for strength & growth
4)It produces physical healing
5)It is illumination for the mind
6)It produces victory over sin & Satan
7)It produces cleansing & sanctification
8)It is our mirror
9)It is our judge
10)It is a creative force

These are the parts I find interesting:

Effect 4#
The Bible is likened to medicine; yet it is the BEST MEDICINE; because there’s NO HARMFUL EFFECTS of “eating this medicine”. *Proverbs 4:20-22 gives us God’s prescription for healing & good health.

1)Give ATTENTION to My words
2)Incline your ear to My words
3)Do not let My words depart from your eyes
4)Keep My words in the midst of your heart

Effect 8#
The mirror of God’s Word shows us our inward spiritual nature & condition... :)
We can’t see ourselves without a mirror, right? So, God’s Word shows us what we CAN’T see!!

Hope you were blessed; & please do review this lesson!! (For those who attended.
Will see you again for Super Saturday! STAY TUNED ^^

Super Saturday - Foundation Truths 1

Yes; we have started on our DBS for this yr! :) The journey has begun for us to "so-called" re-build our foundation and build up on truths of our faith.

Yesterday, we combined with C1 and TS in the upper level. We did Lesson 1: God's Building Plans. (Thanks to Chia Wen and Siu Fai who spoke to us!)
God's Word compares our lives as believers to the construction of a building.
"For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building." [1 COR 3:9]

WHOA! This is the tallest building in the world - Burj Dubai! Ever wondered what is the MOST IMPORTANT feature of it (a solid building)? :)
Of course, it's the FOUNDATION! That's logical, ain't it?

Likewise, we, as Christians, also have an appointed foundation for our Christian life! :) The true foundation of our Christian life is JESUS CHRIST!
This is what David says in PSALM 62:2;
"He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken."

Let's claim this promise! :)

Moving on, how is this rock (FOUNDATION) laid in a person's life?

These are the 4 successive stages by which Peter had the rock laid in His life:
[MATT 16]

1) Confrontation: Encounter with Jesus
2) Revelation: Revelation from heaven
3) Acknowledgement: Acknowledging the truth revealed to you
4) Confession: Open and public one.

Let's start to apply it; as these aren't just for head knowledge.

So how to build our lives upon the Rock?
Sounds easy, but we gotta act on it! HEARING (studying) & DOING (applying) the Word!
The Bible and Jesus are inter-related: One is the written Word of God. The other is the personal, or living Word of God.
If you love one, you will love the other.

4 important truths:
1) As a disciple keeps and obeys God's Word, Jesus manifest Himself to him.
2) Keeping God's Word - is what separates a disciple of Jesus from the world.
3) It is the most important test of a disciple's faith.
4) Thru God's Word, the Father and Son come into the life of a disciple & establish their enduring home with him.

RESPOND!! to God's Word.

Throw away filthiness & wickedness! Instead; adopt an attitude of meekness (the fear of the LORD)
HEB 4:12 testifies the truth of God's Word.
"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."

Hope you were blessed by the teaching! :)

An important thing to take note:

Have a nice day!

Monday 5 April 2010

I am not, but I know I AM.

* EASTER * - It speaks of our...

Eternal
Amazing
Supreme
Tangible
Extraordinary &
Risen Savior =]

Don't you think we are so privilege to be Christians? I must say that I'm so thankful that Christianity has a resurrected Savior instead of a dead founder!
This year Easter meant something to us. We were reminded of God's grace and the assurance that He's forgiven us of ALL our sins! :)

Just two days ago, we had our Easter Rally! :) There were a huge number of attendance on Saturday! After the worship on Saturday; we watched two presentations.

First, a mime! :) I thought it was a dance, well, I suppose it's a form of a dance.
I am so touched by the lyrics of the songs; and this is rather my 3rd time in 5 months hearing it play!

I found the lyrics from the Internet and decided to post it up here! :)

Who am I
by Casting Crowns

Who am I?
That the Lord of all the earth,
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I?
That the bright and morning star,
Would choose to light the way,
For my ever wandering heart.

Bridge:
Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.

Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.

Who am I?
That the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again.
Who am I?
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain,
And calm the storm in me.

Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours.

Not because of who I am,
But because of what you've done.
Not because of what I've done,
But because of who you are.

I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I'm calling,
Lord, you catch me when I'm falling,
And you've told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.
I am yours.

Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
I am yours..
I am yours..

Of course, we can't forget the "Everything" skit. It tells the story of God giving everything to a girl - but then the cares of this world turned her away from God!
Attractive things such as lust, money and drinking lured the poor, innocent girl away from God. AND these stop her from going back to God. Sin separated us from God.
BUT God pathed the way for us to return back to Him thru' His death. In the end, the girl was restored to Him! :) This amazing story has blessed me - I've watched ppl acting before.
One of the churches in Malaysia actually filmed it quite a few years back! It's known universally but I think it started in the West... ^^

SO AMAZING!! ~

I'VE BEEN THOROUGHLY BLESSED.
